Every year we have a huge red cross in our calendar saving the last week of may. If you have the chance to head off to Barcelona from may 25th to 29th, you will enjoy one of the best music events across Europe, the Primavera Sound Festival. And this is not just because of the perfect urban location next to the sea, but specially for the amazing line-up year after year. This 2011 edition won’t be less, you’ll find not only big classic names like Pulp, Pj Harvey or Animal Collective, but an exquisite selection of brilliant, and not so well known bands, which will fullfil the expectations of the most demanding audience.
One of the responsables to bring us every year all these fantastic bands is Abel Suárez, a.k.a. Dj Coco. It’s a pleasure for us to have him among our guests with this special mixtape that collects some of these hidden bands that shade up the line-up of the upcoming Primavera Sound 2011.
Besides his tasks in the festival, Dj Coco is also responsable for one of the most active venues in Barcelona, La 2 de Nitsa. You will find him there almost every weekend djing eclectic sessions combining all sort of music styles, however, much more focused on the dance floor than this mixtape here, which is just a sample of what you will find in the next festival line-up. Or in his own words:
“This is not a dj mix, it´s only a compilation of things i like from the line-up of this year´s festival. Probably some of you will be a little bit shocked, there are not many pop songs, I tried to show the darker side of the festival (but I forgot to put some Swans!) and to focus on the small bands misted of the big names you all know. Hope you enjoy!”
